PCS Reach Out Program Overview
Employee Volunteer Program
It is the goal of PCS to have a positive impact on our society. This underlying objective is at the heart of our mission and values. We believe in the merit and worth of every individual regardless of one's position in life. That is why PCS has developed the Reach Out program.
Program Information and Guidelines
Reach Out is an incredible opportunity to give back to the community. It is a volunteer program that PCS has created that will actually pay the employee to volunteer. All employees who have completed their probationary period of 120 days are eligible to participate. PCS believes so strongly in the value of community involvement that they want the employee to get involved without worrying about missing work to do so.
PCS will pay employees for up to 40 hours of community service performed at a pre-approved location, however, 16 of these hours must be volunteer work that contributes specifically to an organization that benefits community members that are struggling financially (examples of approved organizations are Volunteers in Medicine, Food for Lane County, Head Start of Lane County, St. Vincent de Paul, Shelter Care, etc. This volunteering can even occur outside your normal work hours and still count as paid volunteer time.
Additionally, they encourage our employees to go above and beyond the 40 hours of paid community service. In fact, each year one employee chosen by a committee will be recognized as our Volunteer of the Year. This volunteer will have shown an exceptional commitment to serving their community. PCS will make a substantial donation to the Volunteer of the Year's charity of choice.
PCS is offering its employees a truly unique opportunity to get out there and give back to those who need it most. Thus, they want to focus our community service projects on those programs that benefit low income individuals and families. In a nation of such immense wealth, it's easy to forget the poverty that exists right here in our own city. People in need range from every age, gender and race. Suffering and indigence are not just problems in some distant developing nation they are here in our own backyard. The best way to demonstrate how grateful you are for all that you have is to give back to those who need it most.
